"Guardians of the Galaxy" opened with a very healthy $94 Million this weekend ($160 Million worldwide). Not bad at all for an unknown property. Only "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction" opened larger this year, but those films came with built in audiences. Director and co-writer James Gunn took to Facebook today to express his gratitude to the fans, crew, and the studio. If you’ve seen "Guardians" you can practically feel the joy that went into making the movie so it’s pretty exciting to see that Gunn will be in the director’s chair for a second round.
